Replicas and layouts highlight the new version. Replicas are live copies, hot-linked to your original seed objects. You can freely rotate, reflect, and scale replicas, and move them anywhere in the artwork. Replicas allow you to instantly create all-over designs, tossed layouts, spot (sateen) repeats, irregular (step or sliding) repeats, composite repeats, counterchanged repeats, gradations and optical patterns, and virtually any other known type of repeat patterns, even optical illusions and optical art. And, as usual, you draw only a single copy of the seed elements and the plug-in takes care of the rest. Layouts remember all the vital parameters of your pattern, starting from the repeat size, position, scale, and orientation of replicas, and let you reproduce complex patterns with a single click. You can choose from a variety of built-in layouts or easily create your own. In addition, the new version ensures a proper pattern orientation and features numerous other productivity enhancements, including streamlined export to web browsers, textile CAD programs, and conversion of SymmetryWorks patterns to regular Illustrator patterns. You will also love the new Make and Release buttons located right on the SymmetryWorks palette. These and other convenient controls save you a trip through the menus for all common operations. Finally, SymmetryWorks 2.0 is 100% compatible with the previous version so you can edit each and every pattern that you created earlier.
